Training Courses by OVOP Secretariat
Now we have 6 training courses.

1. OVOP Intensive Training (OIT)

This training is for extension workers and assembly staffs at local government level to understand OVOP concept. The participants to the training are expected to disseminate OVOP concept and to facilitate to formulate OVOP groups at their district/city. OVOP Secretariat have already conducted this training for all of the assemblies in Malawi. The contents of the training consist of OVOP Concept Understanding, Introduction of Practical Skills for Value Addition (Jam and Juice Making), Marketing and Sales Promotion Skills, Participatory Business Training, OVOP Proposal Making, Proposal Assessment.


2. Cooperative Member Education Training

This training is for newly approved OVOP groups to make them as a Cooperative Society. Together with facilitators from Ministry of Trade and Industry, the group members are expected to equip with necessary knowledge to work as a cooperative.


3. OVOP Group Training (OGT)

After new group is formulated as Cooperative, OVOP Secretariat provide this training to make the group to generally understand OVOP Concept, Business Management, Marketing, Sales Promotion, Packaging Design and Quality Assurance.


4. Technical Trainings for Processing

OVOP Secretariat coordinates technical trainings for particular processing training for particular OVOP groups depending on their processing activities. This training is conducted with other technical institutions such as Malawi Industrial Research and Technology Development Centre (MIRTDC), The Development of Malawi Enterprises Trust (DMAT) and Bunda College of Agriculture.


5. OVOP Business Training (OBT)

This training for already active OVOP groups to make them deeply understanding business management and analysis.


6. Food Processing & Quality Assurance Training

This training for already active OVOP groups to make them understanding quality assurance based on MBS stander MS21 and MS19. Facilitated by the Department of Home Economics and Food Nutrition at Bunda College, the participants are equipped with necessary knowledge of sanitation and hygiene control and product packaging based on MBS standers.
